We contributed to the conservation restoration of the Leonardo Campus of the Politecnico di Milano, one of the most prestigious universities in Europe. Our work involved the construction of the glulam timber roof for one wing of the campus, covering a total area of nearly 800 sqm.
The project first involved installing the main framework with glulam fir beams, ensuring structural solidity and durability. The roof was then completed with panels and an insulating layer to provide adequate thermal performance for the building’s continuous use.
To restore the structure’s original appearance and respect its historic architectural lines, Marseilles tiles were laid on the exterior, perfectly integrated with the parts of the building not involved in the intervention.
The interior space covered by the roof was finally divided into offices, corridors, and technical rooms using drywall partitions, completing a project that combines modern technology with respect for the university’s historical identity.
