About Us
The Mozzone Group
The Mozzone Group has its roots more than 50 years ago, when the Mozzone family founded a small sawmill. Over time, that modest beginning grew into a well-established group with over 100 employees, and today it is a reference point in the timber construction and packaging sectors.
From the very beginning, our philosophy has always been to place care, dedication, and attention to detail at the heart of our work. Just as we did in the early days, when the small sawmill stood out for the artisanal quality of its work, today—despite being a much larger company—we maintain this spirit and infuse it into every project we undertake. Passion for wood and the pursuit of perfection remain the values that distinguish us and set us apart from our competitors.
Sustainability is a fundamental pillar of our corporate philosophy. We believe that the future of our planet depends on our commitment to the environment, and we are convinced that every project we carry out should contribute to a greener and more responsible world. This commitment is not only for us, but also for future generations. Our goal is to pass on the passion for wood and respect for nature to the next generations of our family and our collaborators, so that they may continue our work with the same dedication.
We are proud of what we have become, yet we are aware that our story is still unfolding. The Mozzone Group is a rapidly expanding reality, ready to face future challenges with the same passion and determination that have guided us to this day.
History
Chapter 1
From Roots to Growth
Everything began in the early 1960s, when Mr Luigi Mozzone established his small sawmill in Sant’Antonino, within the municipality of Salmour (CN). At that time, the business was a simple farmhouse with a canopy, where Luigi passionately dedicated himself both to cutting timber and felling trees. A modest beginning, yet guided by a clear and determined vision.
In 1972, thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit of his sons Carlo and Giuseppe, Mozzone F.lli was officially founded. From the outset, the small enterprise grew rapidly, becoming a solid company. It was during this period that the true carpentry business began to take shape, supplying beams and planks made from various types of wood—fir, larch, chestnut, oak, and Douglas fir—to meet the needs of construction companies.
Over the years, dynamism and innovation were never lacking: the introduction of the first automated machines marked another step toward business expansion. The Mozzone
brothers, with the help of their first collaborators, broadened their scope, beginning to produce pallets, crates, and wooden cages, combining artisanal tradition with technological innovation.
Chapter 2
The First Expansion
In the 1990s, with the market experiencing strong growth, the company faced a rising demand for its products and a significant increase in the number of employees. Unfortunately, the old Sant’Antonino facility was beginning to feel too cramped to support this expansion. Therefore, in 1998, Carlo and his sons Flavio and Marco—who had joined the company a few years earlier—decided to take a decisive step: they built a new production plant in Salmour, just a few kilometres from the original site. Covering an area of 60,000 m² entirely dedicated to packaging, this facility marked the beginning of a period of rapid development. New sawmill lines and the first automated mechanical nailers were installed here, taking the company to a new level of efficiency.
In 2006, the Mozzone family took another major step: they acquired over 160 hectares of forest in the Grand Est region of France, in Marbéville. This green area, rich in both broadleaf and coniferous forests, located 200 km south of Reims, ensured a sustainable and high-quality raw material supply, reflecting a commitment to the environment and the future of generations to come.
Meanwhile, the Sant’Antonino facility continued to evolve and increasingly specialised in carpentry, with the introduction of a dedicated technical office and the installation of the first CNC machine for pre-cutting roofing elements, alongside a new coating plant for beams and planks. These innovations consolidated the company’s position, making it no longer just a local reference point but a regional leader in wood processing.
Between 2009 and 2010, the company continued to grow with the opening of two new storage centres in Salmour, further expanding production space. During this same period, a 1.3 MW photovoltaic plant was completed, enabling Mozzone to become energy self-sufficient and reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and innovation.
It has been a journey of continuous expansion, where tradition, quality, and respect for the environment intertwine with the ambition to build an increasingly green and innovative future.
Chapter 3
The Second Expansion: From Family to the Mozzone Group
In 2010, in response to the growing momentum in the field of green building, the Mozzone family acquired a historic timber processing facility in Savigliano (CN), modernising it and improving its efficiency. An important photovoltaic system was also installed here, covering the facility’s entire energy needs.
It was at this site that Mozzone Building System was founded—the Mozzone Group’s division specialising in wooden roofs and structures—with a facility that today exceeds 125,000 m².
In 2013, in addition to obtaining ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 certifications, Mozzone BS achieved SOA accreditation in category OS32, which specialises in timber works. This enabled the company to participate in public construction projects across Italy. It was during these years that collaborations with numerous strategic partners began, allowing the completion of major projects such as two pavilions at Expo Milano and the first public buildings constructed in wood.
In 2017, Mozzone Fratelli also expanded its facility and obtained ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 certifications. Furthermore, an additional storage warehouse was built to serve clients more quickly and efficiently.
Today, with the entry of Flavio’s sons, Simone and Lorenzo, the company has reached its fourth generation. With over 100 employees, three production facilities, and numerous ongoing investments, we look to the future with enthusiasm and determination, ready to undertake ambitious projects and achieve ever greater milestones.
Chapter 4
Future Prospects: A Sustainable and Innovative Vision for Timber Construction
In more than 50 years of history, the Mozzone family, through remarkable entrepreneurial vision and effort, has succeeded in creating a brand that stands for quality, service, and reliability.
In a constantly changing world, the company is preparing to face future challenges with an ever-stronger commitment to innovation and sustainability. The evolution of regulations and the growing awareness of environmental issues mean that the future of construction lies in the use of natural and sustainable materials. We look to the future with the conviction that wood is not just a material, but a true resource for building a healthier, more ecological, and efficient world. Projects such as zero-emission buildings, which use wood as a primary element for thermal and acoustic insulation, will become increasingly common, and we are excited to be part of this transformation.
Today, the demand for sustainable and natural housing solutions—across residential, public, and commercial sectors—is growing, driving us to explore new construction methods that integrate wood with other natural resources, creating healthier environments in harmony with nature.
We will continue to invest in research and the development of innovative solutions, with the goal of providing our clients with buildings that are not only aesthetically pleasing and functional, but also fully meet the environmental challenges of our time. Our company is committed to building a better future, where wood is not just a material of the past, but a key resource for tomorrow.
